{"id":770,"date":"2009-11-09T20:59:27","date_gmt":"2009-11-10T02:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/blog\/?p=770"},"modified":"2010-01-08T10:32:35","modified_gmt":"2010-01-08T16:32:35","slug":"easy-hot-cocoa-from-scratch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/blog\/2009\/11\/09\/easy-hot-cocoa-from-scratch\/","title":{"rendered":"Easy Hot Cocoa from Scratch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My wife is usually the one who makes <a href=\"http:\/\/beth.kickert.info\">posts about recipes<\/a>, but tonight I cooked up something of my own that was worth posting. \u00a0 We were wanting some hot chocolate and lamenting the fact that all we had was raw cocoa powder and most recipes we found online were fairly complex. \u00a0So we improvised and things turned out really well. \u00a0Here is what we came up with.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 1\/2 cups milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup cocoa powder<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Combine all the\u00a0ingredients into a\u00a0\u00a01 quart Nalgene bottle (obviously wide-mouth is the way to go) righten the lid and shake. \u00a0After all\u00a0ingredients\u00a0are mixed, unscrew the lid but leave it in place. \u00a0Microwave for 3-4 minutes until hot. \u00a0Serve in mugs with\u00a0marshmallows.
