{"id":39,"date":"2007-03-19T03:08:16","date_gmt":"2007-03-19T03:08:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emergentchurch.info\/?p=52"},"modified":"2009-06-11T15:35:26","modified_gmt":"2009-06-11T15:35:26","slug":"bg-one-voices-for-justice-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/blog\/2007\/03\/19\/bg-one-voices-for-justice-update\/","title":{"rendered":"BG-ONE: Voices For Justice \/\/ Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We held our first organizational meeting for the upcoming BG-ONE event at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.broadwayunited.org\/\" onclick=\"return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)\" target=\"_blank\">Broadway UMC<\/a> and things seem to be coming together nicely.<span>  <\/span>We have decided to label this event as &#8220;Voices For Justice&#8221; and will work with the theme &#8220;Come Together.&#8221;<span>  <\/span>While the overall focus is injustice, there will be some elements addressing racial reconciliation.<span>  <\/span>Additionally we will be partnering with the official <a href=\"http:\/\/www.one.org\/\" onclick=\"return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)\" target=\"_blank\">One Campaign<\/a> in a more official way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Mission Statement <\/strong>has been developed for our work:<span>  <\/span><em>We seek to educate our community about local and global injustice, encourage our community to take action that will change this injustice, and<span>  <\/span>build a community of activists united to make injustice history.<span>  <\/span><\/em>Beyond raising awareness, we are also seeking to raise money to donate to local and global aid organizations including financing part of Kaleidoscope&#8217;s trip to New Orleans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong><span>  <\/span>We will meet on Wednesdays starting March 28<sup> <\/sup>and will run until April 25.<span>  <\/span>The actual event will be at 6:00 at Broadway UMC (1323 Melrose St).<span>  <\/span>The April 25 date will be a rehearsal at Broadway and we will set up and practice the afternoon of the 28th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Involvement:<\/strong><span>  <\/span>The primary artistic elements will be coming from the students in Kaleidoscope.<span>  <\/span>We will be teaching classes in Hip Hop, Poetry, Art and Band.<span>  <\/span>The technical arts will be handled primarily by adults and outside of the Wednesday sessions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can you help?<\/strong><span>  <\/span>Once again we will need your support and your assistance.<br \/>\n<script><!-- D([\"mb\",\"u003cspan>  u003c\/span>If you are available, we would love to have you join us on Wednesday nights to help and participate with the classes.u003cspan>  u003c\/span>Even if you don&#39;t have a particular &quot;skill set&quot; we would love to have you connect with the students.u003cspan>  u003c\/span>Additionally, we need help with the technical arts aspect of the event (Rick??
