{"id":1169,"date":"2010-05-02T07:45:11","date_gmt":"2010-05-02T12:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/blog\/?p=1169"},"modified":"2010-05-02T07:45:11","modified_gmt":"2010-05-02T12:45:11","slug":"things-i-have-become","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/blog\/2010\/05\/02\/things-i-have-become\/","title":{"rendered":"Things I have become"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few days ago while reflecting on my daughter&#8217;s first birthday I wrote about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/blog\/2010\/04\/27\/things-i-no-longer-am\/\">things that at one time described me, but no longer apply<\/a>. \u00a0I wanted to flip that around and identify the things I have recently become. \u00a0The last five years have been particularly transitional (and our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/blog\/category\/swaziland&amp;order=ASC\">future plans<\/a> will only serve to continue that).<\/p>\n<p>Just like the last list, these descriptors are varied. \u00a0Some are the result of philosophical\/theological shifts, some reflect major life transitions, and others have slowly developed based on changing life circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Here are things that I have become:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A gardener<\/li>\n<li>A grant-writer<\/li>\n<li>A pacifist<\/li>\n<li>A stay-at-home dad<\/li>\n<li>A distiller<\/li>\n<li>A father<\/li>\n<li>Less goals-oriented<\/li>\n<li>A master of biblical studies (I even have a degree that says so)<\/li>\n<li>A polyglot (although my skills are fading)<\/li>\n<li>More progressive<\/li>\n<li>More free<\/li>\n<li>A whiskey expert<\/li>\n<li>A better cook<\/li>\n<li>Theologically liberal<\/li>\n<li>Post-modern<\/li>\n<li>A blogger<\/li>\n<li>Balding<\/li>\n<li>More appreciative of fine food and drink<\/li>\n<li>Domesticated<\/li>\n<li>Completely\u00a0intolerant&#8230; of racism and bigotry<\/li>\n<li>More aware of my flaws<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few days ago while reflecting on my daughter&#8217;s first birthday I wrote about\u00a0things that at one time described me, but no longer apply. \u00a0I wanted to flip that around and identify the things I have recently become. \u00a0The last five years have been particularly transitional (and our\u00a0future plans will only serve to continue that).
