{"id":994,"date":"2010-06-11T07:30:08","date_gmt":"2010-06-11T12:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/2010\/06\/11\/sewing-envy-decreased\/"},"modified":"2010-06-11T07:30:08","modified_gmt":"2010-06-11T12:30:08","slug":"sewing-envy-decreased","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/2010\/06\/11\/sewing-envy-decreased\/","title":{"rendered":"Sewing Envy Decreased"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Awhile back I made a <a href=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/2010\/04\/02\/sewing-envy\/\">post<\/a> about having sewing envy and my desire to learn to sew.&#160; Just recently I made a <a href=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/2010\/06\/02\/sewing-boot-camp\/\">post<\/a> about \u201cSewing Boot Camp\u201d and how I wanted to make <a href=\"http:\/\/sewmamasew.com\/blog2\/?p=791\">this shirt<\/a> for my first project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoot Camp\u201d started on Wednesday.&#160; We began the day by trying to figure out my hand me down sewing machine.&#160; It turned out that we needed a different sewing needle.&#160; Apparently my husband who also uses the machine likes to sew with a really large needle!&#160; Dacia braved the pouring rain and headed to the store for supplies while I stayed home with the kids.&#160; When Dacia returned we began cutting out the fabric pieces and got right to work.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>After four hours of sewing, talking and tending to kids we still had a lot of work to do, but \u201cboot camp\u201d was over for the day.&#160; After I put Mikayla to bed I got back to work.&#160; I finished the pleats all by myself.&#160; They were actually a lot easier than I thought they would be.&#160; At 9:30 I decided to put the sewing away and go watch the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup.&#160; <\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/carandshirt023.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"car and shirt 023\" border=\"0\" alt=\"car and shirt 023\" src=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/carandshirt023_thumb.jpg\" width=\"438\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><em>Progress Day One \u2013 With pockets, chestband, shoulder straps, and hem still needing to be done.<\/em>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/carandshirt024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"car and shirt 024\" border=\"0\" alt=\"car and shirt 024\" src=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/carandshirt024_thumb.jpg\" width=\"419\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Progress Day One \u2013 Without pockets (this is what I ended up with), chestband, shoulder straps, and hem still needing to be done.<\/em>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<a href=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/carandshirt025.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"car and shirt 025\" border=\"0\" alt=\"car and shirt 025\" src=\"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/carandshirt025_thumb.jpg\" width=\"395\" height=\"297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Up close shot of pleats.<\/em>&#160;<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday I headed to Dacia\u2019s house to finish up the shirt.
