{"id":63,"date":"2009-07-21T22:03:12","date_gmt":"2009-07-22T03:03:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/?p=63"},"modified":"2009-07-21T22:03:12","modified_gmt":"2009-07-22T03:03:12","slug":"10-books","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/2009\/07\/21\/10-books\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Disclaimer<\/strong>:\u00a0 Nice Sunday at KY lake with Ben&#8217;s family (pictures to come) + last day at <a href=\"http:\/\/kap.wku.edu\/\">KAP<\/a> was insanely crazy (every student was out of sorts, it was basically crowd control) + entertained KY Kickert&#8217;s and Steve tonight = One tired Sugar Mamma.\u00a0 Post is going to be short and to the point.\u00a0 The equation above should explain why I am two days behind on this one!\u00a0 That being said, enjoy today:\u00a0 Top Ten Books.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the past year or two I haven&#8217;t had the chance to do much &#8220;free reading&#8221;.\u00a0 I was working on my second masters, pregnant, and working full time, so free reading was non-existent.\u00a0 However, I do teach kindergarten and so I read a lot of children&#8217;s books.\u00a0 I thought I would make this list my Top Ten Children&#8217;s books.\u00a0 They are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Secret Garden &#8211; I read this book over and over as a kid.\u00a0 I am not sure why I like it so much, but it is definitely a favorite of mine!<\/li>\n<li>Any Dr.\u00a0 Seuss book &#8211; Ben says this is cheap, but I love them all, just ask my kids at school.\u00a0 We actually spend two weeks during the year doing nothing but Dr. Seuss activities!<\/li>\n<li>Little Women &#8211; I just re-read this a couple of years ago, what a great story.\u00a0 I read it as a kid, but I think I missed out on a lot of the story.<\/li>\n<li>The Giving Tree &#8211; Shel Silverstein is a great author and this is one of his best books!<\/li>\n<li>Runaway Bunny &#8211; A classic children&#8217;s story of a young bunny who tries to run away from his mother, but his mother follows him every step.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He discovers that he can&#8217;t run from his mother because she loves him so much.<\/li>\n<li>Chicka Chicka Boom Boom &#8211; This is one of my favorite read alouds, the kids really get into this one.<\/li>\n<li>Charlotte&#8217;s Web &#8211; This is another one of my favorite chapter books from my childhood.\u00a0 Wilbur is hilarious, and Charlotte is very sweet.\u00a0 I cry at the end everytime.<\/li>\n<li>Bread and Jam for Frances &#8211; I am not sure why I like this one so much, but I really enjoy it.<\/li>\n<li>The Polar Express &#8211; Another one of my favorites to read aloud.\u00a0 We also make a train and enjoy hot chocolate while listening to the story.<\/li>\n<li>Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day &#8211;
