{"id":288,"date":"2009-08-09T21:41:23","date_gmt":"2009-08-10T02:41:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/?p=288"},"modified":"2009-08-09T21:41:23","modified_gmt":"2009-08-10T02:41:23","slug":"kindergarten-reality-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kickert.info\/beth\/2009\/08\/09\/kindergarten-reality-tv\/","title":{"rendered":"Kindergarten Reality TV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kindergarten teachers should really have their own reality TV show!\u00a0 Really!\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t believe me check out some of these anecdotes.\u00a0 Keep in mind that these are all from the first week of school!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Unlike ducks, kindergarten students do not follow behind their momma!\u00a0 Enough said&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Names I have been called this week:\u00a0 Mrs. Kickermon, Ms. Beth, Mrs. Kickers&#8230;the list goes on!<\/li>\n<li>Bathroom breaks are always an adventure.\u00a0 This year I have a bathroom in my room, which only adds to the adventures!\u00a0 Several times I have had students walk out with their pants down to get a drink of water.\u00a0 I have also had students scream at me about how they had to poop, while I was trying to teach.\u00a0 The best was a story about a little girl.\u00a0 She had been in the restroom for ten minutes when I decided to go check on her.\u00a0 Upon opening the door I saw that she had taken her shoes off and she promptly told me how she had to poop.\u00a0 I left and returned ten minutes later to find that she had now removed her pants.\u00a0 Again, leaving and returning a few minutes later to a completely naked child.\u00a0 Who gets naked in a kindergarten classroom bathroom?\u00a0 Apparently this young child!<\/li>\n<li>Fire drills are always an experience.\u00a0 This year our alarm is extremely loud, almost deafening.\u00a0 Of course when the kiddos heard it the first time they all held their ears (no tears surprisingly).\u00a0 When we returned to the room one little guy asked if he could use the bathroom.\u00a0 I let him go and he was in there for a few seconds before he came running out.\u00a0 He asked me if the alarm was going to ring again.\u00a0 He was scared that he would be in the bathroom when the alarm was going to go off.<\/li>\n<li>It is also not strange to be interrupted in the middle of a lesson for a student to shout out a random thought.\u00a0 I had one kid interrupt me during calendar to tell me all about Transformer World that he apparently visited this summer.\u00a0 He was full of detail about his experience and the things he saw.\u00a0 (Side note &#8211; there is no such thing as Transformer World).<\/li>\n<li>I got an email from a parent on day one that mentioned three things.\u00a0 One &#8211; her child was scared of the automatically flushing toilet (what four\/five year old isn&#8217;t).\u00a0 Two &#8211; The family would be moving soon and they just wanted to make me aware.\u00a0 Three &#8211; They wanted to let me know about Ropey and Ron, the child&#8217;s best friends.\u00a0 These aren&#8217;t ordinary friends, they are imaginary friends!\u00a0 They are allowed at her house, but not school.\u00a0 Apparently there are family members and more friends along with these two.\u00a0 Only in kindergarten world!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Of course this is just the beginning.\u00a0 Tomorrow begins week two and I am sure there will be more Funny Moments to share!\u00a0 But for now, I must venture to bed!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kindergarten teachers should really have their own reality TV show!\u00a0 Really!\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t believe me check out some of these anecdotes.\u00a0 Keep in mind that these are all from the first week of school!
